Digibarn Systems:
Atari Mega/STE
Thanks Ray Maynard for this donation of a fully loaded Atari ST (a special model know as the Mega/STE) which includes a hard disk! This machine has belonged to Ray's mother. Ray writes:
By the way, the hard disk is a 20 MB drive with the capacity expanded to 30 MB using a then-new recording technique called RLL. RLL stands for Run Length Limited, and you should be able to find a technical explanation of what that is using Google. Frankly, I just don't remember the details but it was the hot technology of its time. Regarding the software floppies, there are some good things in there and some not-so-good. The best software by far is a BASIC interpreter and compiler called GFA BASIC. While this is a very advanced BASIC will all of the modern IF-THEN-ELSE, DO WHILE and REPEAT UNTIL constructs, it is NOT a modern object-oriented language. There is also a MIDI synthesizer program (Dr. T's) that's quite good, even by today's standards and a desktop publishing program called PageStream.
Thanks Ray! |
