Commentary on photos

*From Keith Carter in December 2005

Great images - brings back great memories. The back of the woman in (the third to the right picture in the top row on this page) may be Pauline Olivariz (sp?) - an electronic music artist. Jef's programming class was great. He encouraged us to use as much mainframe time as we wanted - claiming that they would allocate more the next quarter based on our usage.

**From David Wing

The photo in the Quonset hut is definitely from the Matthews Campus of UCSD, around 1969. The human subject in headband might be "Mike," whose last name I can't remember. I don't remember if he was in Jef's Art Department class, "Computer Programming for Humanists," but he was a friend of Joel Ryan, who was a graduate student in the harder sciences at that time. Bill Atkinson might know, or Steve Clark, who were both in that class as well, or visiting it regularly.

The tripod I think I remember as Jef's, though it has wheels for early portable video. I think he used the wheels for still work, for convenient moblility. The wooden piece at the right could be one of Jef's many keyboard instruments.
